On Thursday 29 September I left with Brandir, Chidish and Cytaugh to Tüttleben. I had C & C signed up for the show and had promised Sonja to come and help build tents and fit on the hounds as they and Angelika had to ' work '. It was a very nice weekend because the Italians were kept Jahresausstellung and therefore everything was dressed up
extra. Sandra and Lucien were also there with some Italians but were not BOB this time. The only registered Deerhounds were mine and Sonja. Chidish and Cytaugh got their first CAC, Cytaugh became BOB and Vision was at the end of the day Jüngsten BIS!

On Friday 14 October was the international show in Dortmund. Since Dagmar K.C.-Pordham approved, I had registered. There were 10 Deerhounds reported and one youth was absent. She found Chidish quite nice during the wide Show in April JL. Even now she liked him and made him BOB. Unfortunately, Cytaugh got 2h behind something that should never have been won. Vision first stood in the Jugendklas and won this convincingly and also became Jugend BOB.
Saturday we had a rest day. Delicious! A little walking, lazing and taking pictures of Vision, more we have not done.
Sunday end of the morning we had to be back in the halls for the Bundessieger. Björn Fritz was the judge this time and we were curious what he would do. Fourteen Deerhounds were reported there and the same childhood was absent again. Chidish was again BOB with the Bundessieger title and Cytaugh now got 1h. Vision once again received the JCAC and the title Bundes Jugendsieger. It was a very successful weekend!

The weekend after that was the international coursing on RONO Beach but unfortunately Cytaugh and Chidish couldn't get involved because of their thick toes. Very sorry. Also Sonja had come with the intention to let Vision run a bit but also this kneusde her toe while playing and thus could not run. Bernice did enjoy and walked the stars of heaven! I heard from Sebastiaan Vink that in Roosendaal she treats Visdonk thick toes with laser in the animal clinic. So I had to go back to that. After having come home on Monday I called for that laser and we were able to go on Tuesday. After examination, all three were lasered and the next morning you saw all the results! After this, several times the toes were lasered and eventually they were almost as thin as they should be. So it works really well!

The last weekend of October we were again with CC2000 in low ants. A nice number of people and Hounds had signed up and it was again wonderful to enjoy blissful weather and a huge long trail. Very strange and spectacular was the sheer amount of ladybugs. Really millions flew around and when you stood still there were dozens of you. Also in the cars and caravans swarmed of these animals and many people have taken ladybugs out of their car for days!
This was the last time Gert-Jan and Jacqueline attended a CC2000 event, we now continue with Maarten and Monique Cameron. In the spring We hope to organise a nice coursing for our group of lovers.

The first weekend of September we go to the coursing, or actually the Lievelde. Simon would explain the trail and turn in the morning, Maarten Cameron would run in the afternoon. There were about 66 hounds logged in. Chidish and Cytaugh could do a test run on Friday-afternoon and Saturday-afternoon, and they did so diligently! You can always enjoy walking in the surroundings; Sand, water and forest what else do you want?! The team that organizes this coursing is extremely pleasant and always does its stinkenden best. This year they also had very nice prizes; Wind lights with a candle in it.
The grass was somewhat on the high side and of course there was a lot of commentary on it. It's preferable to let people walk their hounds on billiard sheets where there is no blade to be wrong. The whole course is being helped by this mentality because the organizing associations always adapt to the people's whining. The fields are getting flatter, obstacles are out of the wicker and ditches all the way, a nice long trail is always too long and if a hook is less than 70 degrees (while 60 is allowed) the bend
is too sharp and dangerous. Apparently, the whiners have never experienced a real hare-coursing, because they are turning hares 360 degrees in full speed!
When I remember the French Championships in Guignicourt, sometime in the last century, the hounds had to jump over a flowing stream of about three metres wide and covered with pebbles and pebbles. Many hounds jumped into the creek or against the shore but there was no one who complained about it. Coursing is imitating the real hare Hunt and that happened here! And so it should be everywhere but the problem is that people do not train their hounds. With hours running on the leash, they do not learn to use their eyes and to cope with their bodies and they really need it with coursing! I hope that the coursing in France is still a bit of what it was then because with my two youngsters I am eager to go "real" coursing.
Anyway, during the coursing in Lichtenvoorde a Barsoi and Whippet was injured, the Barsoi broke her front leg and the Whippet a metatarsal, both after they ended up in a ditch. At the Whippet it was stupid bad luck because she did not see the ditch but the Barsoi could have seen it but did not look good and did not jump well. Yes, and not looking good and not jumping well is disastrous at this sport. The nasty is just that the screwdriver always gets the blame and usually this is not right!
Sunday 11 September I left early in the morning towards Luxembourg. At the last moment I had decided to register as Brandir still needs a CACIB and Chidish and Cytaugh could still be just in the youth class. On the statistics I had seen that another male was enrolled in the Open class, so whether Brandir would get this IB was just the question. There, the male became Fritzen Gunpowder. A still quite young male who I had given a ZG during my inspection in Bremen mainly because of the too short and not dancing gait work. Well Brandir's is not at the moment that what I like to see so I found it very exciting anyway. Whether it was right that he won, I don't know, you can't judge from the ring, but I was very happy with it. Brandir got the CACIB and becomes international champion. He is also now Luxemburg's champion and it turned out that the Benelux winner card was also forgiven, so also the title Benelux winner Luxemburg he had. With the Dutch and Belgian Benelux Winner title, Brandir is now the first Dutch Deerhound to be the Benelux champion! He is now ready and may stay at home, only a little club matches maybe.
Chidish eventually became best male and BOB with the Luxembourg youth Kampioen's title and Benelux Youth winner ' 16 and also Cytaugh was Luxembourg's youth champion and Benelux Youth winner ' 16. In the honour ring, Chidish came out against a thick 60 other juvenile dogs and was selected until the last 6. After that he had to return to the honour ring with group 10 and he was third! All in all I went home with 8 titles! Not bad!
The weekend was the Dutch coursing championship in Axel. A relaxed weekend with delicious weather, nice walks and Chidish and Cytaugh have walked a test run.
Friday the 23rd we left for Amermont, Belgium. Here Cytaugh and Chidish would run their first game. Finally we were able to join again and we felt like it! It was like old; Camping on a field where the cows are from and everything is on his thaw. It was perfect coursingweer although the terrain was pretty hard by the preceding dry period. The Deerhounds walked on Saturday and to my great surprise there were six Deerhounds reported and also present, 4 bitches and 2 males. This meant that the CACIL could be forgiven. Cytaugh and Chidish walked very convincingly and especially Cytaugh followed the hare nicely. But after the first turn, Chidish was at the top with 265 points followed by Cytaugh with 263 points. Kilbourne Norma Jean received a disq. Because they did not ran, Laïs Palantiri had 218 points, Limelight Palantiri 256 and Livingston Palantiri 261. That became even more exciting because could Chidish and Cytaugh continue to retain these places? In the second round they were thus grouped together and walked Cytaugh again neatly behind the hare while Chidish anticipated and cut off here and there. Chidish showed more passion and strength. He was therefore first at the shelter and made a nice flying kill, as far as that can with a 
muzzle on it. At the beginning of the evening was the award ceremony and then it appeared that Cytaugh had received the highest number of points for the second circulation, 259. In total, therefore, 522 points and with this she became first with the CACBL and CACIL. Chidish had very astonishingly gotten the least number of points, 252, and thus became third with 517 points. Livingston was second (261 + 257) with the reserve CACBL and reserve CACIL, Limelight was fourth (256 + 257) and Laïs became fifth with altogether 473 points.
Unfortunately, a day later, both Chidish and Cytaugh both had a thick toe. That means at least 6 weeks of rest and that's good bales!

Deerhound Jahresausstellung
On Friday 5 August I left with Brandir, Chidish and Cytaugh towards Gelsenkirchen where on Saturday the Deerhound Jahresausstellung took place. Sonja came from the other side and we would make it a weekend of fun. Our judge was Mrs Ingela Kyrklund from Sweden. A total of 84 Deerhounds were reported including 29 males and 55 bitches. 1 male and 5 bitches were absent. The veterans and the babies started, then the Jüngstenklasse in which Vision had to take on 4 other young girls. She did it exemplary and showed her super-gang work optimally. The judge couldn't get around her and placed her first. After that she had to compete against the 
best puppy male, Fortheringhay's Gwrtheryrn or Cuna by Cristina Wüger, a beautiful male with very dark eyes and a very nice expression. But Vision stole the show with her gait work and became best Jüngsten!
Next, the inspection continued with the Jugendklasse in which Chidish had to take it against 1 other male. This won Chidish and he became with it Jahres Jugendsieger ' 16.
Brandir had I reported in the champion class. Since he hasn't made much sense in the last few days, Sonja would bring him, maybe he would do better. And sure enough, it worked. He walked enthusiastically and showed himself well. He was above expectations in third of the 7 champions!
Best male was finally once again land Lord von der Oelmühle of Florent Friedrich.
Then it was Cytaugh's turn. And of course, the moment I had to present Cytaugh had to be a big temper. Cytaugh did not want to show himself any more, but because it was such a large class (12-1 absent), we could just dry up before being placed and fortunately it was dry before the final decision. The judge made it very exciting by walking several times along the 11 drawn, which were still very neat. 
Once again, I was very surprised when she finally Cytaugh first place. It was a very important course of work. Fortunately, finally a judge who watches there!!!
For best bitch, Cytaugh had to record against the beautiful Fritzs Celeste. This girl also has such a cool gait. I had the honour of being allowed to approve her in Denmark (2014) and then made her 2nd BIS. Of course, Celeste won and she was also very rightly BOB.
I was very sorry that Mrs Kyrklund was not stricter, of the 63 hounds who were able to get a qualification, only 8 got a good one and the rest an excellent one, while in my opinion there were several at most a good deserved. By giving so many hounds a U, the value of this is enormous. And partly because of the always high qualifying of the Deerhounds you will see the average quality go back hard. With breeding there is no more on the Rasspecifieke properties because most of the Keur Masters find this no longer so important and no longer punish a hound on missing these properties. This will result in more ' dogs ' instead of Deerhounds. Sin.

The week we were at the show in Mechelen. By circumstances Hennie and Clement Bosman Chidish and Cytaugh showed. This went perfectly and both are now called Belgian Junior champion. Chidish became BOB and third in the Youth BIS inspection and Cytaugh BOS. Hennie and Clement Thank you again!

On August 21, the Young Dog Veterans Day took place. Sonja arrived from Germany the day before and I also was there Saturday afternoon. There were 10 Deerhounds reported but unfortunately 2 absent. Judge was Gerda half-from above. Vision showed himself again fantastic and frankly she had the best work of all Deerhounds, Chidish was best male and Cytaugh second in her class behind Uliana vom Blausteinsee, a beautiful and correct female of a completely different type. Best bitch was Pitlochry's Octavia but by her sloppy gait Chidish won her and became BOB. Despite the bad weather, which kept it inside, it was a pleasant day. After having made the motorhome back in order and having cleared all the stuff and fences, we headed towards Rijsbergen. 
Sonja would stay with us for the rest of the week to show on the 26th of August Vision at the Euro Sighthound show in Brussels. Simon was invited to judging a coursing in Poland on 27 and 28 August and could not fit on Brandir, Bernice and Silva. That's why we had to take all the hounds and since No 6 Deerhounds can sleep in the camper I went with my car so that Brandir, Chidish and Cytaugh could stay in it. Thursday 25 August we travelled to Brussels in the afternoon. It was bloody hot and at the big parking place there was no shadow spot on hand. I had already asked if there was power but unfortunately this was not the case, so we could not use the fans we had with it. The man who shared this thought it was also more than scandalous that there was no electricity for that money which we had to pay per night. Luckily we had enough sheets and other things taken to create a shadow spot. It soon became clear that no water caste and toilets were present! This is very annoying if you only stay in your van and you have assumed that there are at least water and toilets. This gave for different people so real problems. Friday was the Euro Sighthound Show. We had Chidish, Cytaugh and Vision reported for Judge Jean Jacques Dupas from France. There were 5 males and 6 bitches reported. Chidish became best male and best youth dog,
Cytaugh Forest youth Dog and both so Euro Sighthound Junior Winner. Vision was the only puppy and thus became automatically best puppy. In the afternoon Vision was the first to appear in the honour ring with about 5 other puppies. She showed herself great! What a cool gait has that thing. The judge Mrs. Andreja Novak was also clearly impressed and made her puppy BIS! Next, Chidish was allowed to compete for BIS Jeugdhound against about 15 jeugdhounds and was placed third by Mr. Rafael de Santiago! Also not wrong.
The next day was the European and for this I had only Chidish and Cytaugh reported. They were after the Irish Wolfhounds's turn. During the inspection of the Irish I already got one to feel, the judge did very strange things and the worst Irish were brought forward. When I was with Chidish, it was really obvious that he should win. The other male in his class had a very bad front and could not get out of the feet. Ludicova Salamon, our judge, let us walk again and then be the other male as the winner. My pants dropped off and I didn't go into the ring with Cytaugh. I did not want to let my Cytaugh with her beautiful gait be made by a judge who obviously has no sense of things and/or very politically approved. We have also gone right away, I did not even wait for the final inspection of the Deerhounds, the best would not win, and so it was. What a horrible disappointing inspection! The only advantage was that we could go home early and we did so too!

Short overview of the last half year.
On Friday 15 April, Sonja and I left with Chidish and Cytaugh towards Stratford upon Avon where the wide Show of the English Deerhound Club was held. We went with the camper of Sonja because we would take a puppy with you on the way back and then the motorhome was so comfortable. I had booked a room in the hotel at the beginning of the year because we did not know that a puppy would travel back.
After we entered the hotel, we went up with our stuff. It was a very traipsing with dog beds, clothes bags and bags to our room there which was of course on the second floor and at the end of a very complicated and long corridor. First we had to go with the elevator, then a walk through, then stairs up and back stairs, all sorts of nooks and again a long corridor descend. After a lot of sighs and gepuf we came to our room. The first thing I did was pull the curtain aside and open the window, it's always too hot in such a room. Then we had to give the dog beds a place, the room was redecorated and when we finally looked at the bed it turned out to be a French queen! Well, we're not going to be there for a couple! So Sonja back down, to the reception and ask if there was no other room. That was there, on the other side of the hotel on the ground floor! So we load everything on the trolley and finally I closed the window and wanted to close the curtain again. After a small mahbub the whole curtain came down! This started all right! Limp of laughter we came down and after having reported it (it turned out to occur more often) we could go through to our new room; Corner, stairs and 10 meters in the corridor. It turned out to be a room for disabled people, s
o nice spacious. Sonja warned me that I didn't have to attract anything, especially those red cords that were everywhere! For the show on Saturday I had Chidish in Junior Dog reported. He stood with 7 others in the ring. The judge, Mrs. Dagmar K.C.-Pordham was charmed by Chidish and placed him first! Best Dog was Pyefleet Tarka and Reserve became Hyndsight Desperado. Cytaugh stood with 6 other in the Junior class as well. She was third behind two Neroche sisters. Best bitch was Killoeter sai Tallavarjula and Reserve was Kilbourne Pandora to Talorpechie. For Sunday I had Chidish and Cytaugh reported in the ' Special not bred by Exhibitor ' class. A very strong class with 19 entries. Sonja showed Cytaugh. Here they made nothing under Judge Wendy Cross.
After this inspection we packed our gear and headed for Brightlingsea where we would pick up a puppy for Sonja. Mary Girling was still cleaning up the wide Show in Stratford and so we had the time to walk with the hounds, behold the puppies and prepare the food. I had dropped my eye on the smallest of the two bitches and hoped it would be for Sonja.
This proved to be the case and after all the paper Rompslomp to have completed and signed we left the next day again towards the Netherlands. The small Vision did just fine on the way, no beeping or whining, a prodigy and once arrived in Rijsbergen it soon turned out that she was a natural talent for shows!

A week later, Simon and I sat with the hounds in France at the club show of the RALIE, the French Irish Wolfhounds and Deerhound Club. I liked to Betina Adams, she approved the Deerhounds, my two ' youngsters ' show mainly because Chidish seems so awfully much like Cscarf. Brandir got 1h in the Championship class, Chidish also got 1h and became best youth Deerhound. Best Male became Jesus-Maria-Joseph du triple Bois and reserve became infidel-et-Ram du triple Bois both of Mari-Eugenie Vinen. At the youth bitches, Cytaugh also got 1h, although Betina would have preferred to put two others on her, but these two didn't want to show up, yes and then you're out of luck! Best Bitch and BOB eventually became Garbo or Muma of Gilles Barreda.
At the end of April we were in Göhlsdorf near Berlin. Gert Jan had made a turning machine for ' Windhunden-Rennclub Phoenix ' and Simon would turn the coursing with it. But first on Saturday the show. Only Chidish and Cytaugh were reported in the youth class. Chidish got from judge Mrs. Ella Yaschenko from Moldova 1h and became BOB over Cytaugh who also got 1h. In the Jügend BIS inspection, Chidish was placed fourth by Olaf Knauber. The next day was the coursing, this was the first time that Vision saw such a thing and she found it twisted interesting!

Thursday, May 5 was the Deerhound club match. Judge was Willem outside camp. Brandir became fifth of the five, Chidish first of the two and Cytaugh third of the three. Not such a success. The pictures can be found on http://www.deerhoundcllub.nl I had in consultation with the Board and the University of Nottingham, organized that we would decrease DNA for the surveys that are currently running in England. I was very happy with our foreign participants because these were all willing to let DNA be taken from their hounds. This is in contrast to the ' big ' Dutch breeders. One for me (and many others) incomprehensible setting.

On Saturday 7 May I was with Cytaugh and Chidish in Dortmund. Here Mr. Dux approved the 17 reported Deerhounds. Chidish got 1h and became best youth Deerhound and Cytaugh got 2h behind something that should never have been won. It was very strangely approved and many could not find themselves in the results. Next time, again to someone coming out of the greyhounds.

Wednesday May 11th we left for Tüttleben. This year the Saluki Jahresausstellung took place. The center of the racecourse was nicely decorated with a camel, Sheikh and Saluki's. For the show on Saturday, 5 Deerhounds were reported. Chidish was the only male, he got 1h (with this he became German Youth champion) and became BOB, Cytaugh got 1h in the youth class and eventually became forest. Because there were so few couples logged in, I also reported Chidish and Cytaugh. They walked beautifully next to each other but of course it is not a real couple, they do not resemble each other. But the judge thought differently and made them first. Next, Chidish had to appear in the ring for best young dog. He also won this and a little later he became a further BIS! I found this very embarrassing. The BOB Saluki was also not exactly bad and just had to be BIS. For his victory Chidish got a beautiful bed but I found it more appropriate for Saluki's so the BOB Saluki got it.
Vision had already grown considerably and thought it was wonderful to see her comrades again. They had fun for ten so with his threes. In Tüttleben We always have a nice piece of garden so that they can rauzen a lot but they found it very nice on Tuesday to also take a course on the Middenterrein. Simon had a spectacular trail over a ditch and back long the trees. You saw that the hounds enjoyed this, it was something else than in such a smooth, uncluttered field. Of course Vision could also be a piece and she did it full of surrender!
Two weeks later we were in Nörten-Hardenberg. Simon was in the front of the coursing and so I was staying with Sonja in the camper. This all went fine. From Thursday to Sunday it was the ' European Irish Wolfhound Congress ' with the Jahresausstellung of the Irish on Saturday. 250 Irish Wolfhounds were reported there for the three electoral masters; Gretchen Bernardi (USA), Chris Amoo (UK) and Jan Pain (UK). Sunday was the CAC show for all the greyhounds and Mr. Peter Friedrich approved the 15 Deerhounds. All Deerhounds got an excellent so that says enough again. Chidish was first in his class and became best male. Cytaugh also got 1h and is now also a German junior champion. BOB became the Finnish bitch Brokenwheel Mc Blodeuwedd.

Saturday, June 4, Chidish and Cytaugh were in Tilburg on the show of KC de barony. Here Ricky Lochs-Novels accepted the 5 Deerhounds present. Chidish got 1h and the reserve CAC and Cytaugh also had 1h in the youth class. With this U'tjes they have become both Dutch junior champion.
Above you can see one of the Coursingvelden of the EKC in Slovakia. This was held from 17 to 19 June. We planned to leave Sunday morning 12 June but when I drove home on Saturday afternoon of my Greyhound inspection in Lelystad, I got a breakdown. It was such a serious that the roads waited it could not fix it and honor a garage that could be it of course Monday! Only on Monday-evening we were able to leave and drove the first piece until just before Frankfurt in record tempo. Wednesday evening we joined the group at the racecourse at Vienna and Thursday afternoon we were in Vel'ké Pole, Slovakia. We had no hounds in the fight but Simon was once again chef D'équipe. It was all not such a success; The organization left a lot to be desired, variable prices for eating and drinking were requested and no good agreements were made with the associations that provided the coursings. This resulted in a single field that started off with a very small round of racecourse instead of a coursing and where, after this was changed, it turned out that two people manned this terrain for three whole days. This resulted in errors of the Turner, tensions with the participants and organisation and finally the removal of the greyhounds on Sunday a
fternoon to prevent injuries caused by spinal errors. Another field on Sunday turned another team and it had no spare material. So when the turntable started at the beginning of the second turn, the German team gave a different field, their the spare, but the driver did not want to turn. Anyway, the German Turner that he took over, turned much better than the first one and this gave the hounds quite different points than the hounds who had already walked. This caused a huge shift in the rankings. Don't like them all. For Brandir, Chidish and Cytaugh It wasn't really nice either; You couldn't walk well, during the day it was sometimes very hot and I was looking much at the far-away fields or with my ceramics. In order to make up for it we had planned a few days of holiday at the back, but at the camp site where we initially landed, we were geattaqueerded in such a way by Hornets and other very large flying rigs that we will be right the next day Have left. After that we went to a campsite in the Czech Republic and that was better. We could take a very large piece of ' garden ' and walk very well in the surroundings. After three days we went home again and the hounds were happy again that they could uitrazen on their own terrain.

2 and 3 July I was allowed to Hyvinkää the windhondenspecialty in Finland. On Saturday I had the Barsoi's and on Sunday the Deerhounds. The quality struck me from both breeds and because I am strict with the Barsoi's (49 present) I forgive 10 excellents and at the Deerhounds (39) 4. Especially the Bovenbelijningen were very flat in both races and the corridor works really bad. Something that is very important for a Barsoi and Deerhound! Best Barsoi was Yegorov Morning Haze of Virva Sundberg & Seija Piippo Kokkola and best Deerhound the beautiful bitch Kerslake Doreen by Carina Engman.

On Thursday 21 July we went to Crown Mountain near the Here was on Saturday the exterior inspection for which we had signed Vision. And as I wrote before, she is a natural language. She showed herself as an accomplished lady at the Judge Willem Outer camp.
Cytaugh and Chidish have walked together for their ' haasvast ' in the afternoon. This went fine! The next day, Cytaugh walked with Bernice in the morning and Chidish with Bernice in the afternoon. And both times, Bernice happily joined so now the two ' puppies ' have their ' haasvast ' and they can officially join in from 22 September.
And of course Vision could also walk a bit on Saturdays! Again she did it full of surrender. And after hard work it's good to make junk!

Five days in Germany.
Earlier this month I again spent a short week with Sonja in Germany. We went for lovely walks in the environment and enjoyed our hounds. Chidish and Cytaugh saw their first deer and were quite enthusiastic. Bernice was slightly unwell, as they had made a wrong move and left her with a bad pain in her back. After physical therapy she was a lot better, but not running and playing during the first few days of rest.
Sonja gave me a printed copy of “Deutsches Windhundzuchtbuch” [Book of German Sighthounds], which was written specifically for exhibitors and judges, and I agree with what it says. On Friday, Simon arrived at Hermannsburg after working in Denmark and visiting a trade fair in Berlin. Saturday afternoon he explained a great course held on a bare cornfield so the hounds could all run freely. It started with making the lures, and of course with real rabbit-skin in it! The hounds definitely had to watch that.
Next Simon took the lure machine and pulleys into the field, with Sonja following with a wheelbarrow. Very handy, that, because otherwise you walk back and forth with the stuff. After fifteen minutes I drove the car and all the hounds to the field. Because to tie them up to a tree while others were on the coursing field, didn’t look very clever to us.
First we slipped Bernice and Silva to run a half course. Bernice ran like the wind but afterwards was a little stiff again. Silva enjoyed it thoroughly but could not keep up with Bernice and so cut a lot. Good enough!
Chidish and Cytaugh are terrifically fanatical and ran really well. For the second course add Brandir to them. He started very well but halfway saw something in the woods. He suddenly stood still with his ears straight up. Then he cut off a portion of the course and made the kill as first.
That was enjoyable!!
Sonja, thanks again for the wonderful days, but especially thanks for the splendid birdhouse!! I will install it this weekend and make a couple of photos to show how it looks. It is really beautiful.

The last month was a busy month, much on the road and a concern. The weekend crowning mountain, early August, was reasonably relaxed. It was for C
hidish and Cytaugh the first great trip, staying in the caravan, meeting many, many other greyhounds and people, the first show experience and for the first time in ' public ' walking a piece of coursing. They did great, loved everything, showed up well above expectations and walked very enthusiastically behind the hare. 
Sonja also came to let Bernice take part in the coursing. She ran together with Lotte from Alex and Dini. They weren't splattered courses, both of them weren't really in a top condition. But they had fun and that's what it's all about. It turned out that in the reception they had a decent collision as Bernice could not stop on time, the proof delivered this picture of Annemiek. Luckily they di
dn't like it. But I have to say that I found it extremely childish of a number of people to whine about the fact that Sonja and I took pictures of Chidish and Cytaugh on the edge of the Coursingveld. There was no dog bother, we and the puppies did not make any noise and were also absolutely not in the careers of the coursing hounds, there is no one on or to look at. And yet people have to complain about it. These people have probably never been in layman's times, but it happened that the coursing hounds walked between the audience! y August 12th I went with the hounds to the Losloopbos in thirst. After half an hour I came across a small Scottish Collie. The animal looked badly neglected, the fur was full of tangles and there were crusts on the nose. After having hung around f
or 20 minutes on the ' site ', having listened or was not called and asked several passers-by to know if they knew this dog, I decided to take the poor animal with me. Given the size and yuling I was convinced that it was a bitch of around 10 years. I had also felt under the belly whether it was a male but couldn't find anything, just tangles. The Collie just walked with me towards the car but in it they didn't. After I lifted them up and put them in the car, they crawled in a corner and popped into each other. While driving, I saw that she was terrified! Such an old dog afraid of driving, very strange. I rode right along my vet to see if she was chipped and if so if it was registered. chipped but not registered. 
I went home to see the poor animal and I was terrified. This dog was not a bit in the burdock but was almost totally felt, including felt strands and huge t
angles! My idea to put the scissors in there, I put straight out of my head, that was uninitiated work. I wrote a cry of distress to Annemiek and the next morning she stood by me on the pavement, armed with razors and a bottle of dog shampoo. We placed the kitchen table by the window, hung a running light for extra light, put a rubber mat on the table, put the Collie on it and started to work. As Annemiek progressed, the bewilderment was greater. How could
people neglect an animal so terribly!!! Annemiek has peeled her like an orange! When the belly came to a turn, it suddenly turned out that it was a male! We didn't come up with laughter anymore! Yes, and then suddenly you can say no more to him, so after several names have passed, it became 
Remy. You know it, from ' only in the world '. In Total, Remy had four hours on the table before his jacket was out. In the pictures you can see that I mean that literally!!! After the shaving we washed him nicely but we had to dunk him twice before he didn't feel any more fat. 
And that's how he looked after his makeover. Deliciously Fresh!
In the course of the ensuing days, Remy went on to run better and at some point he even lifted his paw to urinate. Who knows how long he hasn't been able to do that because of all the tangles! By now I had decided that Remy would not go back to his old owners anyway, they were allowed to pop up. People who neglect their dog are not yet worthy of a toy dog! In the meantime, he had adapted perfectly, ate well and listened to his new name. We would find a good home for him but first he had to go to Germany where we would have Trautskirchen the Deerhound Jahresausstellung on Saturday 22nd August.
Before we left on Wednesday 19 August, an email from Annemiek came that Remy was missing but the fine didn't know. Later that week she had seen this on the site of Amivedi and after consultation Annemiek has passed our telephone number.
Packing and dropping, with the dog basket extra for Remy, we left towards Trautskirchen. After one night we arrived in Trautskirchen. It was pretty hot and we had to protect Remy from burning the sun, because yes, of course he didn't have a coat anymore, but still wanted to lie in the sun.
Friday night we were called by a woman who said that we had her dog. After she passed the chip number, we said that I would let it read out and call her back on Sunday. Sunday it was indeed her dog. At first she wanted to get Remy right, but I said that we would stand on Monday near Frankfurt and that it was better to get him there. And so came to pass; Monday afternoon they came to get Remy. Fortunately, Remy was happy to see his owners again and after a penetrating conversation with some advice (Remy was way too thick and drank too little from himself), we gave Remy with it. They promised that they would bring him to the groomer more often because they couldn't keep up, Remy wouldn't allow it! This dog had not learned from childhood that life was more than twice a day a round in always the same forest and every day the same chunks!
When I saw him again a few weeks later because I had his collar and she was mine, I was shocked by his sad expression on his snoot. He looked even older and was just as thick as when I found him. Poor animal. With pain in my heart I left, knowing that I could not do anything for him.
Anyway, back to Trautskirchen. For this Jahresausstellung, 77 hounds were reported for Bryan Doak of the Rosslyn kennel in Ireland. First, the veterans and then the puppies were approved. Chidish stood with one other male in his class and won. Cytaugh had two females in her class, but honestly these were not competition either. So Cytaugh had to 
fight her brother for best Baby and this she won. At the end of the day she was even Baby Best in Show! Brandir obtained a third place in the Championship class. It was a bit of an atmospheric show with little really nice Deerhounds, the quality in Germany clearly goes backwards. Best male and BOB eventually became land Lord von der Oelmühle of Florent Friedrich and best bitch was barns more Energy of Life by Viola and Wolfgang Müller.
Sunday was the coursing. The terrain was strongly inclined and by the sun and the wind, bone dry. This resulted in a large number of injuries, while some hounds were ontvelt. Bernice started out in the morning and walked a good course, but in the afternoon she threw her hat again (but at least she had no broken feet!) and finished in last place.
Monday the mess packed up again and drove towards Camping Park Wispertal. (End of the afternoon Remy was picked up here.) We have been here for a number of days before we went to Bad Homburg on Friday, where Sonja would help to build the show and I tried to sell some ceramics, and Brandir, Cytaugh and Chidish had signed up for the show. Cytaugh became best Baby and Brandir BOB. Sunday 30 August once again packed up again and at the end of the afternoon we were back home, a dog poorer.

Petition for name change.
I met the following petition on the American Deerhound list. One wants to change the name Deerhound to Scottish Deerhound and I think that is a good thing. The breed finally comes from Scotland. World Exhibition and puppies.
On Monday 8 June we left the beginning of the afternoon in the direction of the world exhibition in Italy. One night just in France and two in the Black Forest, southern Germany. Here, Simon had found a nice campsite at a height of 1100 meters and we went sporting, hiking, mountain. Thursday to Pavia where we thought to find a nice campsite again. The staff was very friendly and helpful, the room was very small. On Saturday the greyhounds were approved in the
huge exhibition hall in Milan. Since the Deerhounds were the first to turn, I had the opportunity to follow several inspections. The inspection of the Deerhounds was strange to say the least, but that was not only with the Deerhounds. Manipulated tails were placed, the other side of the line was very often important, totally unsound hounds, which really cannot walk normally, were placed above Sounde hounds and so on. Fortunately, both Whippet inspections were a joy to look at. Anyway, Sunday we left for home as we agreed with Marijn to Chidish and Cytaugh on Tuesday afternoon. We are delighted about this! Tu
esday afternoon June 16, finally. The three puppies walked outside with Marijn and after a chat and received some papers, we did Cytaugh and Chidish on the leash, in the car and home. What was Brandir happy when he saw those two apenkoppen the car coming out! After having walked around a little, the
fence of the dam went and played and ran around as if they were not used otherwise. All the toys were taken out of the basket and scattered over the terrain, Brandir also had to retaliate, but this did not look b
ad at all!
Yes, and then we have to sleep, but of course two on one bed. 
And meanwhile they grow like cabbage. They are not afraid of anything, find everyone and everything fun and interesting, so far nothing has been demolished, eat well and listen to their name. It's a wonderful couple! 
And if Chidish has another sleeping spot, Cytaugh crawls at Brandir. 
After sleeping and eating it has to be played again. We had to leave the ' Dog Bank ', which is now nice. This afternoon Chidish discovered the hole and the first picking flew all around. It will not be long before we have to get a new ' dog Bank '. But first they can still have fun!

A tour of Germany.
After on Wednesday the 15th of April the car packed with clothing and footwear for show and coursing, Brandir's show-and Coursingspullen and three Pinus's of thick and a half meter length, left Brandir and I on Thursday morning towards Hermannsburg. By celebrating, Brandir and Bernice could greet each other. After having walked the hounds first, the PINUSN went into the ground and Sonja and I loaded my stuff in the camper. Friday morning we headed towards ' Gut Bast ', near Großenaspe, for a weekend show and coursing. When we were about 10 kilometers away Klingelde the phone. Simon. He reported that at half past eleven a mail had come in from Dennis Buroh, the sonderleiter of the show, with the announcement that foreigners were not welcome. One reason was not there! It is of course crazy to send an email to someone who still has to travel 700 kilometers the next day to take part in the show. Anyway we arrived as if we knew nothing, Dennis and his mother greeted and asked if everything went well. Right, we were told that there were problems with the veterinary Office and that the foreign hounds were not welcome. There were all sorts of vague reasons, strange stories told and excuses concocted. We were also told that all foreigners had been notified on Wednesday by phone or e-mail. Sonja responded by saying that I was foreigner and did not hear anything. Dennis muttered something of that the email probably hadn't arrived and that there was a solution to be found. Then Sonja climbed into the phone to discuss with the President of the Landesgruppe and hear how the fork was in the stalk. A thick hour later we took the decision to mention in Brandir's passport Sonja as co-owner to solve all problems and to be nagging and to make sure that Brandir could participate in the show. When we showed Dennis the mail that Simon had been forwarding in the meantime, he said that it had taken a long time!!! For the DWZRV-Sieger show, 13 Deerhounds were reported. Fortunately, the Czech Keur Mistress recognized the right type of Deerhound but still gave far too many U-tak. Brandir became best male and Edlyn Shadrachs gift to Caoinlan, a beautiful female of Danuta Materzok-Köppen, became BOB. Bernice won the Open class with the reserve CAC but since Edlyn is in the waiting period she cannot use the CAC and moves it to Bernice. With this, Bernice became German champion!!! Edlyn Shadrachs Gift to Caoinlan makes an ugly slider. [/caption] On Sunday the coursing took place. The field was an event area where polo competitions were also held. It was huge, super tight, just cut (very nice in stripes) and so in the morning, through the moisture in the loose grass, very smooth. Several hounds made a slider. The route that had been turned off did not exceed the 500 meters while you could have put at least 1000 without difficulty. Also it was very unimaginative and even dangerous. After that the Barsoi's had walked first, the trail was changed somewhat, something more length was created and a ridiculous point was taken out. At the Deerhounds were 8 bitches reported, 7 present. In the first turn, Bernice ran with Craige or Canadagh Caoinlan of Evi Neserke. This has only walked the half course and was withdrawn for the second round. Bernice walked, after an arduous start, 53 points together, which was good for a second place! In the afternoon she was classified with Edlyn Shadrachs gift to Caoinlan, which was at the top of 54 poin
ts. Bernice started again very laboriously and also kept it in the same weather. She first greeted a jury member and then walked to me. I sent them back again and after saying goodbye to the jury, she made the cold. Miraculously, she got no N.D. and landed on the fifth, so last place. Monday morning we packed the stuff again and left for Flessenow. A tiny village on a dead end, located on the Schweriner See. A lake south of Wismar. Here Sonja had found a quiet campsite where we remained until Friday. The weather was perfect although a fresh breeze from the lake was blowing the campground. We could enjoy walking and cycling and during the first walk I saw something, which seemed very much like a snake, shooting away. It was about 50 cm long and brown/black in color. During the walk we heard and saw more shooting. Once back, Sonja first looked up what it was, it turned out to be young esculaap gezondheidswinkel snakes, fortunately not toxic. The following days I regularly took my camera to record one on the sensitive plate, but of course we didn't see one more. 
On Monday evening there was a very nice sunset and at some point the moon stood between the trees and there was a bright Venus. Beautifu
l! We have had a wonderful week holiday and have completely come to rest. Even Silva was occasionally relaxed when Brandir lay at her on bed! Because normally she likes the space and her rest. This is really a unique shot
! As it was quite warm, it was wonderful that during the cycling the hounds could occasionally cool down in the lake. But because 
of the strong wind there were some waves and that made it very exciting! Brandir always sees scary beasts in the water. 
Friday morning we left again but it is highly recommended if we go back to Wismar in the future to stick to this campsite a few days before or after the busy weekend. Early afternoon we arrived in Wismar. Angelika was there fifteen minutes later. After installing, the cult tasted delicious again. Sonja and Angelika worked in the ring on Saturday at the Galgo Jahresausstellung. When the show was going to start, there was a huge mood down, everyone and everything was soaked at once. There were only three Deerhounds reported for the show. Bernice was the only bitch and got it CAC and became forest, Brandir BOB. Later in the day, Brandir was selected for the first three for BIS, but as a beautiful Galgo ran into it, it was bis. Sunday only Bernice and Brandir walked the coursing. They went again as a spear of start only stopped Brandir after a few hundred meters. With his eyes he followed the hare and when the weather was over he went back again. Bernice ran a wonderful course. We have the idea that they only start well when the hare is just before their nose, they can start very quickly and if they are allowed to walk together! This is of course a bit tricky with competitions. In the afternoon it actually went the same, Bernice ran fine and Brandir but the half course. Pity but maybe it 
comes again. The secretariat acted for no meter. This was the day before the registration started. All booklets were thrown together, without numbering, in a bucket. We have been working for two hours to select and number them. Angelika helped on Sunday, but occasionally came out with a red head on the camper. The person behind the computer could not do this work at all, it all went far too slowly and when the computer went on to lead his own life, the disaster could not be overlooked. Angelika could not bring any change. It took forever to start with the second turn, at the award ceremony we have had to wait all the time. What a Drama!!! But the person in question thinks that she is doing it all well and is not going to leave it to another next year. Not very baguma. Monday morning we wrapped up the mess and left for Hermannsburg, after which I drove back home on Tuesday. The holiday was up again.

Tüttleben
Last weekend, 27-28 and March 29th, we were back in Tüttleben. The Thuringia Windhundclub was allowed to organize the DWZRV-Siegercoursing this weekend. Initially, the weather forecasts were excellent but as the weekend approached, they became increasingly bleak. At the beginning of the Thursday afternoon we arrived. Sonja and Angelika were already there and so after we had finished setting up the awning, we could enjoy the traditional cold glass sect. Angelika naturally also had Xena with it and this one has gone completely out of her roof with Brandir, which can play those two fun with each other! Simon had all the time on Friday to make a good route. Since there were 200 hounds reported it should not be too long and could be walked inversely. The grass was very short and there were no puddles on the terrain, partly because of this there was finally a nice, fast, good on all criteria to judge, trail. Since Brandir and Bernice had walked the last Coursingtrainingen so well, we had a good courage to sign up for this ' important ' coursing. There would be 4 males and 8 bitches. 
In the first turn, Bernice ran with Islay's Jilleroo. Bernice started very slowly, but once she walked, she walked the stars of heaven. She showed a better condition than Jilleroo but because of her bad start she had less points. Brandir had to run for the first time with another dog, Islay's Jock. He ran his licence at the time with Picaro, which he knew somewhat but this strange thing…..?! He looked aside, his ears went up and then all the tension flowed out of his body. Jock flew off and Brandir stayed standing. With his eyes he followed the hare but his paws did nothing. Too bad, but not. The second males course consisted of Islay's Kurt Cobain and Islay's Janitor. The reception was not quite as it should, but the jury was halfway the field and didn't see it. For the afternoon program Birog was pulled back and so there were only 7 bitches and 3 males. As a result, Bernice and Jock were grouped together. Again, Bernice started badly and again after about 10 meters the corridor came in. Sin, she can walk so well! Jock got 81 points and Bernice 76. She landed in sixth place. As a last course, Kurt Cobain and Janitor were back together. And sure enough, what was to be expected happened. A large slugfest party arose in which Janitor did not eve
n look at the hare, he went purely for his partner. Up to three times he flew it to the throat and despite the frantic attempts of one of the owners, he did not intend to stop it. What was I glad that Brandir didn't ran!!! If he had such a thing, he would never walk again. No, then rather a Deerhound with a super character that runs no coursing than such an aggressive thing that is not to be trusted. But I think the owner thinks it is very normal. Before this dog had to walk she stood somewhere afterwards with no other person or dog in the area. However, I heard the dog clearly growl when we walked on the other side of the fence at least 10 meters away. The owner was very helpful. Even after the slugfest party, the dog did not get a reprimand and it was allowed to go to the hare as a reward!!! These kinds of dogs and owners make the sport broken and damage the name of our breed. Also, the risk is that the dog that happens to react aggressively and then you are rolling the ball. Breeder and owner must take responsibility and should not let such dogs take part in coursing or running! It is irresponsible!

And the next 3305 kilometers.
Monday morning 30 June everything packed again and go early to drive towards Trautskirchen. A considerable distance of 580 kilometers of which the first part through the Dolomites with too narrow and too steep roads. Once unscathed arrived in Trautskirchen tasted the beer delicious and was again cared for us by the host of our overnight place. The next morning again early from the feathers and direction house, about 590 kilometers. Originally we would go to Aalborg in Denmark, but because Marijn had asked from the Irishman if our Brandir could cover his Bibelot of the Meirse Meadows (a daughter of a Calhoun brother) and this maid had planned it fine (but not really), We had to go home first! Tuesday evening around six o'clock we were at home. Soon some troop from the caravan, the ceramics from the car and a doing turn. After a successful mating we left on Thursday afternoon towards Hermannsburg (490 km.) where we arrived at about half past eight o'clock in the evening. Soon the hounds exhaust, eat, drink a wine and go to bed. The next day the trip went to Aalborg, again about 55o kilometers. Sonja and the hounds went along with us. Simon and I were invited by the Danish greyhound Club to come and approve, I the show on Saturday and Simon the coursing on Sunday. In the course of the Friday afternoon we arrived in Aalborg. Most people of the board of the Danish greyhound Club were already there and were warmly welcomed. On Saturday I was allowed to approve the 3 Deerhounds, 2 Galgos, 1 Irish wolfhound, 4 Italians, 1 Magyar Agar (absent), 10 Saluki's, 41 Whippets and 8 Afghans. Kim Vigso Nielsen, a Danish judge, did the 8 Barzoi's, 5 Podengo Portugues Pequeno and the 6 Pharaohounds. My colleague started at half past ten with approvals and I had to post him in the same ring. He took over for a long time and also explained to each exhibitor what he had done. He used on average thick 11 minutes per hound! Only against ones I could start. This I found pretty frustrating since I like to give the time to young dogs and puppies. In Total I had 5 absents. Luckily I had very experienced ring staff and the exhibitors were already ready in the ring while I placed the classroom. So it went very fast. The quality of the Whippets attacked me heavily, far too big and therefore no more elegance. This is really a problem in the breed. BIS I made a Afghan female, what a picture! BIS 2 was the Deerhound bitch, it is that she dropped it in the course of the day, so late but what a beautif
ul girl! During the day Simon had helped to put a beautiful trail on the gigantic terrain. What a beautiful area to organize a EKC. Space enough! Nearly a hundred hounds were reported before the coursing. Also Brandir and Bernice. Bernice had to walk with the bitch of Randi Kontni, who had made BIS 2 the day before. Bernice ran a few passes, looked to go to Brandir and stopped. The bitch of Randi walked a little hundred metres and also stopped. Brandir had to walk alone, so not, who did not start at all! What a nice bunch! They only had to take an example of the Irish Wolfhounds! Both the owners and the starter could barely stay on the leg, they were so enthusiastic! They walked the entire trail at a good pace and showed that they were playing the game. 
As a Turner, the Danes had let someone come from Sweden. He stood in the middle of the terrain on a stellage and turned with remote control. This worked perfectly. His son was sitting at the turntable and operated the brake occasionally when the hare was riding out. Really a very nice system! We really enjoyed this weekend and hope that in the future we will be able to travel some more to Denmark for a show and/or coursing. Monday morning we left again… But not home! Simon would work this week in Denmark and Sonja and I took vacation on the five star campsite "Flyvesandet" on the north side of Fun, about 270 kilometers from Aalborg. 
This campsite is
ideal for dog lovers. You can walk along the beach (if it is not too good weather and so there are not so many people) and you can also make a great walk through the forest. The beach is not so wide and there are pieces with stones but the hounds could still be well out of the feet and had fun for ten. 
The previous times that Simon and I were here, a large part of the sea fell almost dry at certain times. You could mudflat hiking! Unfortunately the moon was wrong and the water dropped to about 30 centimetres high, just too high to walk through with the hounds. Really sorry, otherwise you can mudflat hiking mileage! Since Calhoun had raced and played the day before and it would be too much for Lavinia anyway, we only had Brandir, Bernice, Silva and Caintha with it. We have a thick hundred meters through the sea robe but Caintha thought it was nice at some point and wanted to go back to the coast. She reminded me of her mother, Amy, who found that mudflat hiking at that time nothing! It was just as if she had fear that the water would come in once.
Also Sonja and I still have stones collected. The most beautifully drawn and colored specimens can be found here! Sonja Later learned that it is strictly forbidden to take stones along the border. The next time we are here we will stick to it but they are beautiful, so around my plants in the garden. On Friday, Sonja left for Hermannsburg because her husband wanted to leave the day. We stayed for a while but unfortunately had to return to the house, about 825 kilometers. Once we arrived home we were well cooked from all that journey. In total we travelled 4545 kilometers in 22 days!
European Championship coursing in Italy; What's in a name.
There are some of these months that we do not see our bed in the Oekelsbos. After coming home from Tüttleben, I had just enough time to finish and pack my ceramics, put the hounds in the Defendog, clean the caravan and do the laundry, before we travel to Italy. After that, everything had to be taken back into the party tent and ceramics. The car was jam! Also in the caravan was the necessary road stowed. The journey began on Saturday towards Gelsenkirchen (approx. 200 km.) I was able to approve the Azawakh's, Magyar Agar's, Afghans and Saluki's on Sunday 22 June. It was radiant again and I had some very nice hounds to judge. Especially a very Rastypisch Magyar Agar Youth Female and an exemplary showing Afghans puppy, of which I could grope all the feet without resist, made a lot of impression on me. Trautskirchen inzing Racecourse. Monday morning early from the feathers and direction Trautskirchen (approx. 450 km.), where we held the first stopover on the way to Italy, where the European Championship coursing was to be held on the weekend of 27, 28 and 29 June. Ingrid and Jennifer, Gert-Jan and Jacqueline joined us and the next morning we left for Inzing in Austria for the next stopover (approx. 370 km.). We had chosen the route through the mountains. Beautiful! But the last piece went too steeply downwards, allowing us to cool down in the village of Stilhielden and the rims/brakes with tig litres of water. Oops, that was just as exciting! In Inzing we were at the racecourse. Here the hounds could stretch their legs and especially Brandir enjoyed the meanwhile arrived people and hounds. John and Karin and Monique and Dennis were already there and also later came Alexandra and her son Jordan. As usual, Chris and Henriette arrived in the middle of the night. The next morning the journey continued, crossing the border, over the Brenner Pass, through the Dolomites to Lavarone, Malga Millegrobbe (approx. 220 km.). The road that was discouraged did not turn out to be circumvented and was so narrow here and there that if there were oncoming roads we had a big problem. But it was wonderful!!! (and occasionally very exciting!!!) And don't believe how long you can do about this short distance! It was still a search for the Coursingterrein, fortunately we came across Ingrid and Jennifer who knew the right route. After a further several kilometres of narrow mountain lanes we arrived at 1400 meters altitude in Malga Millegrobbe on a gigantic terrain that had a beautiful accommodation for the cross-country skiers with all the luxury amenities. We could park on a paved parking lot which is normal for the (luxury) motorhomes. Plenty of power and water around the corner. The participants from most other countries ha
d to drive to the grassy meadows and were able to park between the cows and horses who had the enormous terrain at their disposal. She had to hold a power wire from the plotted coursing courses. Later we heard that the organization did get a lot of damage claims because the cows used the cars and campers as barn piles. This caused some mirrors to break down and/or dents. Also tents are not koebestendig. Furthermore, these animals were definitely not unfriendly or curious, so you could walk through your hounds in a quiet way. Most of the participants were already on Wednesday. Unfortunately, Ad and Anneke had to return to the Netherlands with their five reported Pharaohounds because of a death in the family. Really sad, they were so very excited about this EKC. 
The official opening was Thursday evening. There was a small stage with so little space that the spontaneous feast that normally takes place before the opening could not take place. The "real" partygoers were a bit disappointed. As usual, several speeches were held and a wind orchestra had to hear too many songs. The sound quality was also very bad here, so that a huge murmuring soon emerged. No, this opening is at the top of the list of bad and unpleasant openings. 
Very nice was that almost all Dutch participants had put themselves in the orange before the opening (and every award ceremony). This is something and thanks to our enthusiasm for the winners, every year the award ceremony is a real feast. Two courses were laid out on the extensive terrain. Trail 1 was a thick kilometre away against a slope. Here were hefty pits, stones and other obstacles so that the hounds really had to use their eyes. It was a reasonably well-covered trail with sharp twists and a few long pieces but it was not long enough according to the FCI rules. Route 2 was between the "camping pitches" and was explained on a flat stretch of very uneven terrain. It was a great round race course! There was only one place where the hounds had to watch out and the total length of the trail did not exceed the 600 meters. So also not championship worthy!!! And both the delegate of the FCI and the CDL did nothing to!!! 
Crazy, or Jet. Chris with TIZPA. On Friday we had five Afghans males and two bitches and five Saluki males and one bitch in the fight. After the first turn, Azarang Taikatalvi of John and Karin was in second place, which was exciting again! He had to fight in the second round again together with the same dog as last year for the first place but unfortunately they walked on the racecourse and this was a big disadvantage for Heiki. He also went down again and this was his chance. But in the end he ended up in fifth place and that of thirty-two Afghans males! Also with the Saluki males and bitches it was exciting after the first circulation. They had walked as the first course on the racecourse. Darayavanush of the Brown fire was in the first place and TIZPA Porgouhar Isfandiyar also of Chris and Henriette stood on a shared third place. There were fifty-five Saluki males and forty-nine bitches. In the girls Crazy of the brown fire of Gert-Jan and Jacqueline was in a second place! But on the technical trail everything turned out to change. Darayavanush landed at the sixteenth place and Tizpa climbed to second place! Crazy did not smash hit, and unfortunately ended up in a twelfth place. The award ceremony was held somewhere else than the opening. Spontaneously the party of the flying flags arose but when the award ceremony began, it turned out that the people could not keep away until the stage so no one could see anything. Also not good of course. 
Saturday, the day of the Deerhounds and Azawakh's. Just before the races started, a cloud fell down and the Coursingterreinen in nebulae. The start was postponed. After half an hour there was a view but after the start there was a cloud again and the whole thing was still quiet. Again, the cloud went quite quickly and the hounds started again. Also this year I was glad that I had no hound in the fight. During the opening on Thursday, a Deerhound male had attacked another hound, and not pretty much! It turned out to be the French male Fait scandale Du Triple Bois by Brigitte Parere. This male gave his name to honour. Also during the first circulation he grabbed his companion and was happily disqualified. But the evil had already happened, the duped, Islay's Gilroy walked in the second circulation very badly. In the first course in the morning Blixen became the Great Scott started. On 13 February this male became 8 years old. If he topfit would be okay but he wasn't! He started, well, he bumped in and got off after a little 50 meters. At first he stayed what stood, did a few strides and stayed again. The Turner just turned on for the other hound and Scott still had the intention to walk through. Everyone was furious and yelled at the Turner that he had to stop. He didn't! S
cott Hompelde again a bit towards the hare and finally his owner managed to catch him. The vet also ran the field to investigate Scott further and nothing seemed to be broken but he was well broken. Normally standing on his feet and walking was not there. I was deeply shocked, who let there be a male of that age, who has not really done well in previous years and was not fit at all, walking!? And certainly not in such a field!!! Sorry, I have no good words for about it. In The third course was conaire or Redbrook of Jan and Joke. He walked with another French male from the same owner as the aggressive male but luckily it went fine. A reasonable course. The course after that was disturbed but the jury did not see it. The course on it ran Islay's Irbhinn of the family the Wagstaff. What you saw arriving on the way, happened at the reception. He did not behave quite correctly, but the hare lay silent and the jury did nothing with it. Then came the course with the aggressive French male and it was so good that this French male flew out, a thick disk. What was I glad my brandir didn't join!!! The character of the males is not going to advance! Really a-typical. Of the six males courses there was only one that was nice and correct and where speed and condition were shown. In the bitches, of course, some more beautiful courses but also several where it was clear that the women's condition was too short. 
In the afternoon ran in the first course Conaire with Grayrory's Finlaggan from Sweden. Once the hounds were left loose you saw Finlaggan already look at Conaire. At the time that Conaire one step on the Finlaggan for the lag Finlaggan struck. Result A FAT disk. Funny that Simon has accidentally been able to put this whole incident in the picture. Conaire was the 
last to regain his course but went down a hundred meters before the shelter and then walked to the Turner. Everyone thought he would get a ' rejection for the day ' (which is normal) but… Nothing is more insane in Coursingland, he was placed fourth at the awards ceremony. (Of course, Jan and Joke also didn't count on it, Conaire was sleeping in the car so Jan had to observe the honours). Sorry Jan, but this picture is too unique not to post.
In the second last males course, Irbhinn ran with Nelungaloo Meshach by Esther Bühler. Immediately after the start disturbed Irbhinn on Meshach But the jury saw nothing. At the reception it was naturally blown. Irbhinn was placed fifth instead of being a disc. Should have. At the Azawakh's (14 bitches) We had two Dutch ladies in the fight including last year's winner; Kainda of Marlou. Also now she ran the stars of Heaven, both in the first and in the second circulation she had the highest number of points. Tigidit Savannah of Elisabeth performed to end both outlets with the lowest number of points. 
The award ceremony was held this evening again at the podium, here was more space and the people were kept remotely by a few urge fences. Apparently that is necessary. Due to the fact that the organisation had the Dutch team the most exuberant, enthusiastic and noisy, she threw the planning of the award ceremony and did the Azawakh's last. They thought it was exciting but we didn't kick in and under loud cheers, a happy and proud Marlou with Kainda was in the first place. 
These horses were not really curious but were already grazing right along the Coursingterrein. I shot a few pictures of them and they came ever closer. Actually I got in the way but they decided to walk around me anyway. Joke shot there some nice pictures of it. Still thanks Joke! On Sunday there were three Dutch Whippet males. After the first turn, Happy Halloween of Mr. Wakefield's Dia-Rafat was in a shared fifth place but after the second turn he could not keep this place. Eventually, he ended up as the best Dutch Whippet in the fifteenth place. Henry Del Karfo of Monique and Dennis baked did nothing of this year and finished in the 40th place, Leroy vom Small mountain of the family Will was zevenenveertigste of the forty Whippet males. At the Barsoi's we had one bitch in the fight; Blagorodnja Krasotá Igrushka of Elisabeth blacksmith. In the first round, she obtained 207 points and was thus in the last place of the forty-six bitches. But in the second turn she did a bit better and crawled up to the éénenveertigste place. Yes, and then the Italians. Twenty-nine did it including three Dutch. After the first turn, Ganim's Ziva of Alexandra Stout with two others was in second place! Poslusjnye Wihri Zjuk of Marga van Zeeland was in sixth place and Poslusjnye Wihri Jetsjoh, also of Marga, in a ninth place. For the second turn they had to go up to the technical trail. Unfortunately it was absolutely no Italians again because it stortregende! At the moment the course of Ziva came into view, a large cloud was slowly rolling over the ridge. He went painfully slowly so we had hope that Ziva could still walk. They started but unfortunately…. The cloud swallowed the little dogs. The Turner stopped the Hare and it was decided that they got the last course. That was really bales. A number of courses later ran a French female named Femme Fatale Gilani de Magistris by Nathalie Hurel. This name did her no good. Halfway through her course she disappeared behind a straw bale and no longer emerged. Apparently she was struck over the head and was lying there. As a jury, he was the closest and ran to it, but could not do anything but keep her against the ground as she tried to get out of what was not successful. The veterinarian was not able to find anything at first and took the female from the terrain as soon as possible and brought it to the veterinary post. Later we heard that Femme fatale had died of a schedelbasis fracture and a broken neck. In and in Trieste! A few courses hereafter, Ziva should run again. A number of participants could no longer make it to run their Italians and thus had to Ziva to the Ark. Simon asked Alexandra if she wanted Alexandra to say that if she did not let her run her now, she would never do it again. Brave though! And there went Ziva, we stood with tears in our eyes and bald fists, which was exciting!!! But she walked the stars of heaven and did not go down once, something you actually see constantly in Italians. What were we all happy when she came unscathed at the shelter! 
Eventually, Ziva ended up in fourth place and Jetsjoh on the fifth. Zjuk became fifteenth. It is worth mentioning that Jetsjoh in the second circulation ran the highest number of points of all the Italians all day long! The award ceremony began with the sad announcement of the death of the Italian. All the participants who wore a flag left them lying on the ground and a minute's silence was observed. During the speech that followed everyone was muisstil. There was an in and in a sad atmosphere and the crying stood with many more than laughing. At the awards ceremony of the Italian males, Nathalie Hurel had a sixth and a third place but the flag hung half-stick and of course she didn't come on stage. The ceremony was handled but there was no party, no joy. On Friday, a number of injuries were already occurring. One of them quite serious, at first everyone thought that the Saluki had broken a paw, but later we heard that he was out of the bowl. Painfully enough of course but better than broken. However, I have to put the comment that this hound was not suitable for walking. At the beginning of the course you could already see it, no bet, high walking and uncertain this hound went over the field, then another slip and over the head with the result of the elbow from the bowl. And there were more Saluki's that didn't ran well. On Saturday, a Galgo broke his paw. This hound was totally unwalked, so from the car the field on and yes, in such areas it is still necessary that you are a little warm and supple. Also, Don Juan of Ingrid got injured, he walked a spierscheurinkje. It was clear to see that he moved twice and after the second time he walked no more diligently to the shelter. And then on Sunday the fatal accident with Femme fatale. This was a trained little dog, this was silly bad luck. However, many other injuries were really due to ongetraindheid. 
We and many others think that the biggest problem lies in the fact that the greyhounds are no longer let go. They always walk on the leash and do not learn how to work with their body and eyes. If such a hound only runs on the racecourse, this is not yet such a problem, but it is very much like such a race hound is then put on the coursing! These are the hounds that most injuries incur and sometimes fatal. A hot Tüttleben.
On Tuesday 3 June, beginning of the afternoon, we left towards Dortmund. Here we stayed at the camper pitch where Sonja and I always stand when we go to the show. It is a quiet place and you can enjoy walking with the hounds. At the same time we are already a thick 250 kilometer from home and thus almost half way to Tüttleben. It has now become a tradition that we are going to Tüttleben with Pentecost. Simon is classified by default to build and run the course before and during the coursing and I had promised this year to act as ringmaster on Saturday 7 June in the ring at the Jahresausstellung of Group 5. Given the experience of last year, that the Coursingterrein was not cut and totally under water, we decided to be there on Wednesday so that Simon had no stress and time to come, had all the time to put away a good route. The terrain was beautiful, grass not too high but also no billiard sheet, Simon was very quick to finish his trail. He had placed the start this time in the middle of the terrain and only the left part was put into use. There was a challenging trail of about 850 meters long, given the expected temperatures, long enough. On Wednesday it was still good to do in terms of temperature; We even made a big walk with the hounds. The rest of the days we could forget this, it was too hot. Calhoun soon searched for his spot; Under the caravan. Every hour he moved a bit further so he had a cool piece again. It is always miraculous how he saves himself with those thre
e legs, he was even once again early in the morning under the tent canvas by crept to go hunting. Unfortunately for him, there stood around a fencing so that he did not come far. Against the six o'clock he stood again in front of the tent door beeping that he wanted, because yes, back under the tent canvas, that is not possible!! This region has already been extracted in many areas, and he continues to do so, and I have to think about it if we stand somewhere where there is no fence. Thursday and Friday I had "holiday", a little Brandir Showklaar make, the others comb but especially not to move too much because it was thick 35 degrees in the shadows! Saturday was the show. Sonja would show Brandir and Bernice under Mr. Tomasz Kuszyk from Poland. Also Fortheringhay's Faerwald Fable, Brandir's big "competitor" was reported in the Open class and another bitch in the Open class at Bernice. Fable went with the CAC and BOB off, Brandir with the reserve and Bernice with the CAC (the other bitch only stayed in Ambling walk). So I was in Ring 1 at the Podencos, Pharaoh's, Podengo's and Cirneci at work. The judge for these races was Mr. Manuel Borges from Portugal. Of course I had studied the standards beforehand so that I knew what to look for and fortunately the judge said loud and clear the report so that I could follow it perfectly well. It was really worth it since there were several copies of e.g. The Podenco Canario were present. I am delighted that I have had this opportunity and have put a lot of effort into it. 
Sunday morning we had to bed early. The starting time of the coursing was set at 7 o'clock due to the expected temperatures. This meant that Sonja had to go out of bed for fives as she did the notification. Simon and I came out against the six. Brandir and Bernice were the only registered Deerhounds and walked as one of the first. Brandir started off well but Bernice doubted again. Brandir looked at where his sister stayed and once she went, they walked the stars of heaven. What can those two walk! Of the initially 49 courses for the first circulation, approximately 45 remained. Fortunately, there were enough employees who took their duties seriously and because of this it ran like a train. Agains
t elves the last course had been walked and the temperature had now reached almost 30 degrees. It was decided that there was no second turn and that was good as well because in the course of the afternoon the temperature went up to thick 38 degrees in the shade! And the only thing that you can still do is take a nap! After two was the award ceremony and Brandir got a delicious sausage as price for beauty and performance. He and Bernice also got a beautiful rosette for their coursing performance. 
Sunday again asked out of bed because after nines you could no longer run with good decency with the hounds, it was all too hot for the oldies. There were almost half fewer hounds reported for the second day of the coursing and due to the warm weather (and other reasons), eleven more were logged out. This brought the number of courses for the first circulation to about 22. All employees put everything in order to make the courses as smooth as possible and even manage to run a record number of courses in an hour. Without a break, the second turn was started against Nines and at five minutes before half past eleven the last hounds ran their second course! If this is not a world record….!! Again at half past three the awards ceremony. This is always very atmospheric and cosy. 
All employees are extended thanks both days and the Hounds who say goodbye are brought forward and conceived under appropriate music. This always supplies wet eyes to a number of people, this to the hilarity of the bystanders. Afterwards we drank a nice glass of sect on the good course of the weekend. After this, the shadow soon and also Katja, the president of the club, knew where she could be pamper. 
Tuesday was lazybones day but again warm and stuffy. In the evening there is still a coursingtraining that Calhoun was very happy with. Together with Brandir and Bernice he walked a short trail of about 450 meters. Caintha really liked it too but I still thought it was too hot for her, she has after all been in charge for eleven years! Wednesday morning we could pack the tent wet, it had geonweerd and rained but it was not very cooled. Against elves we drove away to arrive at half past six in the evening. Meyappan, Meyappan, it's always a short tuffs but definitely worth it!

A lovely relaxing weekend in Wismar.
Since Simon was invited to come to the coursing judging during the weekend of April 26/27, we decided to leave on Thursday morning towards Hermannsburg to spend the night and have a pleasant evening with Sonja and Karl-Heinz. At the end of the afternoon we arrived and after a round of forest with the hounds we enjoyed a glass of sect and then a good meal. 
The hounds were again very happy to see each other. Friday morning we drove to Wismar at our convenience. It was blissful weather and after setting up our camp we walked in the "Bürgerpark". Brandir and Bernice found the Red deer, who are unfortunately behind a high fence, very exciting. The other hounds know the deer but when they go walking they are always interesting again. 
The coursing was this year on Saturday. In Total, there were 86 hounds reported, including our Bernice and Brandir, they were the only two Deerhounds. In the morning they walked a good trail. At the start they looked at each other and then enthusiastically went behind the hare. It was an acceptable trail but not really suitable for Barzoi's and Deerhounds, too many sharp twists in succession. In the afternoon, Bernice didn't make that much sense and I had to help her. Still suffer from sham pregnancy? Anyway, Brandir walked the whole trail but was happy when he saw that his little sister was still helping him. After this course, we decided that Bernice would not start at the EKC. Very sorry but somehow these two hounds are still too young and partly because of their panostitisgeschiedenis they just need a lot of time. Hopefully they will be able to join the EKC in Finland next year. At the end of the afternoon was the award ceremony and it was named Bernice as the winner. This w
as not right, of course, a hound that you have to push can never win! When we later got the licences it was also shown that Brandir was the "big" winner, unfortunately without CACC, just one point too little. Sunday we had th
e show. Also here Brandir and Bernice were the only Deerhounds. Mrs. Piesik did the inspection and miraculously she made Bernice BOB. During the final inspection, Brandir received his first "Schönheit und Leistung" title. After the show we still had enough time to go to the beach with the hounds. We left us to refer to a dog beach and after a big 15 minutes drive we arrived on the spot. The first piece was sand but soon it was about in many stones and little sand. We held our hearts, but both Brandir and Bernice and Calhoun did not attract themselves and denderden full of fun over the stony beach. 
Since Brandir had seen fish swimming in the ponds of the burger Park, he initially barely dared the water. Wet toes did not go any further. So Sonja pulled out the naughty shoes and entered the water. Mad fun!! 
Especially Calhoun enjoyed it to the fullest and found it wonderful to chase behind Brandir and Bernice.
Caintha also enjoyed herself, although she is doing it a bit quieter with her thick eleven years. 
And so we ended a wonderfully relaxed weekend in Wismar.
DNA Research.
During the Saturday, April 5, of the English wide Show in Telford, a number of students from Nottingham University, at their offered Deerhounds, have taken DNA material for research into Osteosarcoma (bone cancer), Bronchopneumonia/respiratory tract disease (simply put; inflammation of the respiratory tract), stomach torsion and Fibrocartilagenous Emboli (FCE-See interesting articles). Of course we have also dropped the DNA from Bernice and Brandir. After having thought about it, I offered to take home from Calhoun and Caintha DNA. Calhoun is of course very interesting with its bone cancer! Very sorry that Coney, Calhoun's mother, no longer lives but Aunt Caintha might also be interesting. And… Marijn, of course, lives Calhoun's brother Clarence, a daughter of Clarence and two sons of Chazz (who is a brother of Coney and died of bone cancer). At all six we have taken a swap by their mouths, completed forms and then everything is packaged well sent to England. And now we hope that the research will be progressing quickly and soon! It would be nice if the Dutch Deerhound Club would support this research and would also regulate a DNA decrease day and send the collected material to the University of Nottingham. The more material the better.
"Exciting" Weekend in England!
The English Deerhound wide Show.
After we left Ostercappeln on Monday 31 March, the preparations for the Deerhound wide Show in Telford, England, started immediately. Sonja was driven back home with her camper
and she would stay here for the intervening days. Of course we had to go in between a garden centre, which is actually standard when she is here, and Sonja bought some nice rhododendrons and both of them took a Chinese witch hazel along, beautiful! Also we had to go past the vet for the necessary stamps, worms pills and signatures for Brandir and Bernice. Simon would stay at home and fit on Calhoun, Caintha, Lavinia and Silva, so few hounds he has never had as Sonja and I were gone! On Friday morning, April 4, we were early out of the feathers because we wanted to catch the train of 10.50 hours with a check-in-closes at 10.20. Were previously we had to go past the chip and union control but the trip went smoothly so we were beautiful on time. But…. After Bernice's's booklet was checked and Brandir's turn, it turned out that Rens, my vet had forgotten to put one signature! Well, I could have dicks like brugers but we had to put Calais in, to a vet and a signature. This cost all in all a thick hour and €11. Next time yet again, still in practice, check everything! After all, it all went pretty well, but it was a bit of a traffic jam. At half past four we arrived at the hotel in Telford. After we had checked in, the room had been decorated with dog beds and our stuff and the hounds had been exhausted, it was time for ' a pint of bitter '. Delicious! After that we fed the hounds and made us ready for dinner. Well, this was really English again; Almost not to eat! It turned out that the vegetarian dish and the dessert were still the most del
icious! The next morning at 7 o'clock, because Brandir was in one of the first classes. Luckily it was still good weather and the show was kept outside. Judge was Björn Fritz from Germany. The Yearling class was a large class of 11 entries and Brandir found it all beautiful again. But I had to be careful because there were a lot of knorrepotten around and I didn't want to have that Brandir would be bitten in his nose. It was striking that nobody corrected his young male in a good way, a very bad thing. All the other males in his class looked much more mature than Brandir and Björn did not place him as expected. Also Bilbo, Brandir's brother, had been reported. He stood in the Limit class. Bilbo has grown v
ery differently than expected and looks very mature, but perhaps he has changed over the years. In the course of the morning it started to rain a bit and at lunchtime it was decided to continue the show inside, in the dining room. Very sorry, because it was much too hot and stuffy so people and animals didn't feel very comfortable. At the end of the afternoon it also appeared that it had not rained any more, but a pity that we did not remain outside. As usual, the quality of the males fell, but there were some nice girls to see. It is striking that here in England the Deerhounds are still real Deerhounds, but different from type and also with quite a lot of mistakes but real Deerhounds. Only one foreign dog ran in between and this was an Australian import. What was also noticed was that there were quite a lot of hounds totally stressed, absolutely not accustomed to being in a room and behaving downright frantic. Among other a bitch of Mrs. Gow was unhandled and the owner made himself so busy and gave himself so much effort to show the bitch a little bit that Sonja still said; "That gets another heart attack"! Unfortunately, she was later admitted to hospital with a heart attack. 
At the end of the afternoon Björn Cotherstone Shot and Steel made of Morton and Morgan BOB and Greyflas Just peachy from Bailey became BOS. Best puppy was Ehlaradawn Tilla at Kilbourne of Peach. Thanks to Jan Scheer for these two beautiful pictures!

earned a pair of beautiful, red, knitted, Norwegian socks for Simon, one and a half pounds and the Pentlands coursing Trophy!!! This Trophy is not allowed to leave England, so we left him on the way back at Gill and Toby where we would spend the night. 
Also I had Brandir reported in the very large class of 23 entries ' Special Not Bred by Exhibitor '. He was here Fourth! Before the show was started, we had cleared the room and checked out. So once the last class was approved we could say goodbye to friends and acquaintances and we left for Dorset. After three hours of driving we arrived at Gill and Toby. Brandir and Bernice recognized their birthplace and were able to uitrazen with little sister Bell. After cheering on Brandir's successes and a very pleasant evening we first shot a series of pictures of the trio the next morning.
After that they were allowed to stretch the legs before we would leave towards the Eurotunnel. Sunday afternoon it went fine, with his three at the same time loose but now the ladies decided to attaqueren Brandir once more. Then release only two at a time. 
Then soon in the car and hope that we would not get a delay because we were almost too late for our train. Unfortunately, we did not get the net and the first one we could only go over an hour. Pity. When we were in our line before we would ride the train, the departure times changed and at some point our letter was no longer on the board! There was apparently something good wrong! Hours we were waiting to end up celebrating the train, and so we only arrived against the six in France. Always highly annoying, that hour time difference! In France, it soon began to rain and once it was well on the way it came out with baking the air, including hail and thunderstorms. Almost the whole way back we had this again until after Antwerp I could leave the mood behind me. But not for long… Three hours later than planned we were again unscathed home and the home stayed hounds were very happy that their roommates were there again. We could just get the most stuff out of the car with dry weather, then the mood also burst into rijsbergen.

The weather forecasts looked good for the weekend of 29 and 30 March. Fine, because in recent years we have had enough Jahresausstellungen and associated coursings in the rain. For this coat, Joy
ce Bond of the Regalflight Deerhounds was invited to approve and Mary Girling had come along with her. As usual, the entry of the hounds was accompanied by Scottish musicians but this time there was another carriage with Joyce Bond and Ruth Oess, the oldest Deerhound breeder of Germany (Scottish Highland). 
In Total, there were 80 Deerhounds reported, 28 males and 52 bitches. First a puppy was watched, and then Lavinia came to the turn, she did ' outside competition ' with it. 
Then the veterans came, the male was absent but the 4 reported ladies were present. Caintha was placed fourth, probably because, as usual, it didn't make much sense to walk. But I was proud of her, she looked with her for 11 years (she was the oldest in this class) still beauti
ful! After a big Jugendklasse was Brandir's turn. Just like last year he was with Fortheringhay's Faerwald fable in the intermediate class and once again won fable. 
After that I was able to look at the other classes at ease, I had no more to show. It is for the first time since years that I only have 2 to show, very strange but so relaxed. The overall quality was not really smash hit. Many dogs did not correspond to the standard, this by different combinations of too high worn tails, curling tails, straight rugbelijningen, too short shoulder blades and arms which gives you a bad onderbelijning and too long legs, too Steep Both in front and ribwelving and too little. Also there were few beautiful heads, many bad ears and bad gaits to see. Joyce gave a total of 1 times a G, 19 times ZG and 46 times a U, in my opinion still far too much. The remainder was either absent or received no qualification because it was the veteran class or ' outside competition '. It was also noticed that there was much more gegromd and extracted by the males than previous years. The owners no longer know how to educate a young Deerhound male???

Day after a Leistungscoursing. Initially, the 30 Deerhounds were reported, but because of the many loopy bitches and the logoff of Brandir (he seems to have been quite bothered by Panostitis), in the end there remained, according to the catalogue, only 23, 4 males and 19 bitches. Started there are only 16 bitches. It was a somewhat bland trail, but because of the high grass and the soft bottom, the length of about 800 meters was enough to test the condition and what was the case with many hounds! 
In the first circulation, Bernice was classified with Delightfuldelusion of Gerd fuses. This ran the first few hundred meters and held it then, as usually in recent years, for seen. Bernice walked well but because of an error The Turner hit the hare behind in the corner. Then she was allowed to restart, but the starter put the hare too far before Bernice did not see it. When she started again she walked again and showed great speed and a good condition. But the jury apparently stared blindly at the Hare loss because Bernice ended up with the lowest number of points.
The males stayed in the first turn of Carlin or Redbrook, so that there were only 3 males left for the second circulation. One of these males, Grayrory's Finlaggan, was classified in the second round with Bernice. But Bernice didn't see it sitting and stopped after several meters. N.d. Or "Rejection for the day". Yes, and where that lag..??

Babenhausen
The Coursingseizoen has started again, even for us, we thought. Brandir had taken his license on Ronostrand and we let him run a few more times. That's the luck if you own a turntable and bobbins. We then drive somewhere, put a small trail out, knot a real hare skin on a string and spin. Every time we did this, Brandir was exemplary, whether he was walking with Calhoun, Caintha, alone or with his threes. So with good courage we reported him for the national coursing in Babenhausen on 15/16 March. Bernice was also reported because they both needed two coursings to qualify for the European Championship coursing and this would be their first official coursing. For this coursing, 13 Deerhounds were reported, 11 bitches and 2 males. A nice number! In The first circulation Br
andir was classified with his sister, Bernice. Well, then I was sure there would not be disturbed. Brandir is a real "fire-type" and would, if he is disturbed once, be guaranteed no more walking. (On the site of the holistic practice for animals "Den Hoek" You can find the type of your hound under "Media Library" and then "the Five Elements in dogs". Brandir and Bernice started well. It went wrong with Brandir when the rope jumped a head. He had to take a closer look at this, but then he picked up the weather and walked nicely and full of surrender behind the hare. Bernice finished with 57 points and Brandir with 48. It was clear that the jury d
id not forgave him his mistake! In the break Brandir and Bernice had to check the vet. The vet grabbed Brandir's foot, arch and stretched it, on which brandir loudly responded. But when the vet studied further, Brandir did not hurt any more. Also in the corridor work he showed nothing. So he was allowed to move on to the second round. In the second round he had to walk together with a bitch who had aangegromd him the day before and was shot at him during the walk-in. So I already had a hard head in it, Brandir knowing. And indeed, after the start signal he looked to the right, to that bitch, did a few strides and stayed then standing. Even when the hare came a little bit close to the area, he looked very interested but did not resist a step. Too bad, he's still not strong enough in his ball. Bernice was in second place after the first round and was classified with a dog by Ira Johannes, Islay's Hollyhock. 
They both went very well from start but Hollyhock showed slightly more speed. Bernice followed better, she is not so experienced yet. It also turned out that Bernice was more agile and once she was well underway she didn't Hollyhock in speed anymore. They walked a wonderful course and were well-matched. 
Sonja does not look happy in this picture but I can guarantee that she was indeed!! Because Bernice ended up in a well deserved second place. And that on her first coursing!
The next day we let Brandir and Bernice run for a while and play on the abandoned Coursingveld. After a few big sprints brandir stood on three legs. It shot through me that a few months ago he also lifted his right hind, but after a short walk it was good again. Would something not be right? In the meantime, X-rays have been taken, but of course nothing can be seen. An appointment for follow-up research has already been made, but hopefully it will be solved with a long rest period. For now, no more coursing for Brandir but also no more loose in the woods and behind the fields, which is of course very annoying! But yes, it should be here.
Deerhound Jahresausstellung in Hoisdorf (Germany)
Due to Coney’s sickness and death I had not yet come to report the Deerhound Jahresausstellung. But better late than never.
On 7 September The annual Deerhound Jahresausstellung took place in Hoisdorf (D). There were 66 Deerhounds entered for the widely known judge Mrs. Lisbeth Mach. Since this location was rather in the north of Germany, the number of hounds reported was lower than normal. There were also two other shows and the races in Versoix. As usual, the show was opened with Scottish music and every participant was given a glass of whisky when entering the ring. After the “Stolper class” in which 9 puppies were entered, the veterans first came into the ring. Eight veterans bitches were entered, unfortunately one absent. Best veteran became Fritzen Romantic (eight years and three months) of Rüdiger Jaacks, she became later even best bitch! My Cute Coney (ten years and five months) was placed fourth. 
Then the males were judged. Two dogs in the Puppieklas.
Hereafter the Youth class in which Brandir had to compete against the ‘ Youth World Champion ‘ Fortheringhay’s Fearwald Fable by Cristina Wüger. This beautiful young male won a shiny empire by Brandir. But Brandir got (in my opinion very unjustifiably) the trophy for ‘ best head of the Puppy and youth classes ‘. 
Then the five champions came into the ring. Pyefleet Raffles from Rüdiger Jaacks won this class, he would later become BOB and BIS2. In the Open Class appeared five males of which only one got a Very Good. Neroche Indigo to Oelmühle won this class, beautiful male but can be a bit more masculine. Unfortunately, Lisbeth Mach did not judge rigorously what I always see as a disadvantage for the breed. In the Bitches puppy class only one dog. Five Bitches in the youth class including Bernice. Bernice did not want to show herself, did not want to be touched and walked like a mop. She was third, because she is very typical, with a too high valued Very Good.
Seven Deerhound bitches in the intermediate class, one Very Good and seven bitches in the Champion class, all with an Excellent. Four girls in the Workingclass including my Caintha of ten and a half years. She was fourth, partly because she was a little bit lame. Best of this class was Grayrory’s Exclusive of Ake and Maria Käck. This bitch also got the trophy for ‘best head of the adult classes’ and Beinn Mhor McGrain Caoinlan (2h) from Danuta Materzok-Köppen got the ‘Terichline Feet Trophy’.
Nine bitches were entered for the Open class. This was won by Fritzen Celeste of Randi Konti but my preference was for Grayrory’s Fabulous. Fabulous has a better front, the head is more typical (also in relation to the body) and she has a better topline. 
Anyway, for BOB Raffles and Romantic, both of Rüdiger Jaacks, came back in the ring and Raffles went off with the honour.

Brandir BIS-4!
For the show in Mechelen (Belgium) on August 18, JL. Had I reported brandir in the youth class under judge Mrs. Tanya Ahlman-Stockmari from Finland. I didn't know her and the name also told me nothing. In the Champion class was Regalflight Tarloch of Susanne Baumann (D). Mrs Ahlman told me that this was her race and showed that she liked Brandir very nicely. When I asked her what kennel she had her Deerhounds, she said Sassatown and I was right to burn a light. She was therefore of Sassatown and very long ago I met her partner with hounds but in recent years never heard or seen anything of them. Anyway Brandir got an excellent and became BOB. Before he had to go into the honour ring I took photos by Karl Desai. Brandir had never been on a podium so I was afraid it would be a battle. But no, he did great and Karl really has very nice pictures of him can shoot. Hopefully they will appear quickly on his site so I can order a few.
In the course of the afternoon Brandir had to take up against the other rasgroepwinnaars. The group was approved by Mrs. S. Kealy from Ireland. In the preferred ring, Gary Janssens was with Kilmara or First Avenue for me, a giant of an Irishman of just 22 months young. And although Brandir did not fall into Kilmara, they found each other very nice and would prefer to romp a game. Mrs. Kealy approved the Hounds and Gary and I both had the feeling that we were in for bacon and beans, they barely looked at our hounds. How great was our surprise when we were both in the selection of four. After another round of walking there was placed and Kilmara on the second and Brandir in the first place! It didn't have to be crazier!! But it did. For the BIS inspection there appeared 8 Rasgroepwinnaars, the Dachshund and terrier were not show up. Brandir was in the meantime quite fed up and didn't really want to stand still, he i
s only 15 months after all. So much pressure I didn't want to put on him and let him commit a little. After Mr. Eberhardt (D) all the dogs and Brandir had approved we walked another round through the ring and we had to get out of it all again. We would be called one by one, in order of placement. Very big was my surprise when Brandir was allowed to take a seat on board four! Laden with gifts, we left the honour ring and it was still an entire puzzle to drag it all at once to the car. Simon had the cult standing cold and in the late afternoon sun we toasted to our brandir.

During the weekend of 22 and 23 June. The European Championships coursing on the Pouch in the immediate vicinity of Bitterfeld was organised. The many negative rumors in advance and the high tide alarm ensured that we were prepared for everything. There would be no clean drinking water, the catering would not be good/sufficient, the area would have been inundated with all the consequences and there would be too little manpower to make everything run. Luckily it all came along and all this was fine. However, what was not in order and where it was going with a European championship coursing was the Coursingvelden. To begin with, the total area was strewn with glass shards. Several weeks before there was a concert and the visitors had left their glass bottles which were then broken by the bulldozers/lorries that had to clean the terrain again for the next event. Incredibly dangerous of course for a dog sporting event. For Thursday evening, a cleanup action was planned, if all the participants were to walk next to each other over the Coursingterreinen, it was necessary to clear the most and most dangerous glass. But… at seven 
o'clock a huge distress broke out. Gusts who had the Dixie toilets flying through the air, extremely heavy rain and big hails made sure that everyone hung on his awning/tent/Party tent. And it took quite a long time! Just before that the storm erupted, we sat down with a pretty large group to eat. Chris and Henriette had a tremendous uitgesloofd on this delicious meal, but it would literally fly in the air later. At the last moment we decided to pick up everything and move to our awning and canopy, about 20 meters away. But when Simon and Sonja went with a table loaded by the gate, and the table had to lift a little higher, a squall came and blew everything off the table! That happened to everyone who walked into his hands with a table. In no time it was a ravage of your Welsh. If the bugger had to be windows and skylights closed, awnings had to be turned on but because of the enormous wind this was almost impossible. An additional problem was that because of the hard rain, the roaring winds and the huge thunders that followed each other at a rapid pace, it was not understood if someone shouted at you something. Awnings had to be hung, but also our large party tent that I wanted to use for my ceramics was built. The hounds also walked outside and did not understand. Except Lavinia, who saw her chance where and began to eat all the food she could find on the ground, on. As the bugger we have done the hounds through open doors, not looking which hound where and if we all had them. Our awning at the front tent was already broken, so we first demolished it quickly before he could damage the car, when the canopy of Angelika was saved, that of Sonja could still wait (we thought) and then hung with eight men at the party tent. Large hail stones beat against our hands and that did twisted a lot of pain. In no time everyone was soaked and there was ten inches of water locally. Among others at my party tent where the ceramic boxes were already covered. There was no more saving here. Also our freezers stood deep in the water, all the chairs, dog beds/rugs that stood outside, everything, everything was soaked. When the storm fell and we could see the damage, the courage fell into our shoes. What an incredible gang!! Everywhere lay food, the p
ans and dishes with food were filled with water, everywhere couched tables, chairs, plates and cutlery. Well, garbage bag and tidy. When the biggest troop was gone we went to watch the hounds. Most lay quietly to sleep only a confused brandir came at Angelika from the RV, Xena of Angelika, came from Sonja's camper and Silva from Sonja lag in our car. After having a bit of order again, we first got some drying and a glass of sect, we would see the next day. Friday shined the sun again and dried everything up quite quickly, except for the dog "water" bed, which needed a little longer. Of course I had an awful lot of extra work on my ceramics. All the boxes were soaked and several I couldn't even bite. First everything but displayed so that it could dry a bit in the right form, fortunately this went quite quickly and I could then extract everything and let the boxes dry and possibly paste back into the model with tape. The ceramics had nothing to do with it except the ones that were really under water, which after drying were pretty dusty and I have to finish with a tassel fabric.
Many had considerable damage and the enormous mess that had arisen took a lot of hours to clean up. In the meantime, the courses were turned off and it soon became apparent that two areas were not suitable in any case and did not meet the regulatory requirements of the FCI for a EKC-course. The minimum length is for the large varieties 800 meters and for the small varieties 600. Only Field 1 complied with this and it was also a fun and challenging course which was also well-overlooked by the officials. Two other fields were not fully overlooked for the Turner and the judges, the one had a length of 500 and the other 600 meters! Also the trailed courses did not suggest much. Last year, Simon agreed that he would also explain a course. This would be field 4. Simon had already started running a trail on Wednesday, but soon found out that he couldn't get rid of the necessary meters. It was promised that there was more mowing and that the glass would be cleared. Unfortunately this Friday had not yet happened and several people were in the meantime interfering with the race route so that Simon was forced to pull his hands. Here, something was put out where he was not behind. Field 4 would only be put into service on Sunday, and this area was not fully met by the requirements. Absolutely not championship worthy so!
On Friday-evening, the opening took place in the amphitheatre in the middle of the peninsula. There Simon (almost) was too late and had forgotten to attract his orange polo, I sent Sonja with that thing to him to dress and-audience him. 
There were several speakers, and the hounds who appeared to have won last year were still honoured. These were two, a German Azawakh and our Dutch Saluki; Non-Serviam Abdelhaziz of Henriette of Constance and Chris Bekker. The opening was brightened up by a ballet group with accompanying orchestra. The atmosphere was super again, and under the line of three orange colored Dutch people, a true party arose between the performances of the group.
Even Sonja couldn't control himself and stepped on Bernd Josh to work with him to dance a waltz on the merry Notes of the Wind Orchestra.
From 19 countries there were 808 hounds registered, with 157 reserves remaining. The number of hounds that actually started was on Saturday 305 and Sunday 443. The biggest report of course from Germany with 159 hounds, the Netherlands had 45 there. For the first time no Dutch Deerhounds at the start, where I was happy for several reasons. Firstly because of the glass, secondly because of the bad and short courses and thirdly because of the atypical Deerhounds that we currently see many appear on the Coursingveld and also win everywhere. By the way, this year it was very striking how many atypical rasvertegenwoordigers there milling about. Dogs that I really thought were the crossings were standing on stage in the evening. It is high time that all the greyhounds were tested on varietal purity.
What was noticed by the larger varieties like the greyhounds, the Deerhounds and the next day the Barsoi's, Chart Polski's and the Irish Wolfhounds, was that there was quite a percentage of lame going to the podium. And there are only twelve of them…. According to the Chef D'équipe this was not by glass but by the bad courses/terrains. There were also several hounds unsubscribed for the second circulation due to injuries. Among other glass anyway??? All in all, the Netherlands did not perform badly, two first places, four second places, one fourth and one fifth place and yet we sang three times the Wilhelmus. 
I would like to add another critical note; We see more and more often that the FCI regulations for International Sighthound races and Lure coursing Events are not respected. In this case rules No. 1.2 Protection of Animals The safety and health of the animals must always guide all officials and participants during racing and lure coursing events. and 4.11.2 Track length for lure coursing. Distances to be applied for FCI European Lure coursing Championship • For Whippets and Italian Greyhounds: 600-800 metres • For all other Sighthound breeds: 800-1000 metres Small variations of the above distances are tolerated. Two years back, at the EKC in the Netherlands, there was a Whippet without her union booklet and she had already done a test run on the field where she was allowed to walk the same day. At least two rules have been violated in this one hound alone! Last year, in Hungary, because of the ground squirrel-holes were life-threatening, there was (just like this year) not enough spare material available and so I can go on. Rules are apparently to trample on. Is it not possible to abolish them all better? That makes it a lot more relaxed!
Pressure, pressure, pressure.
Finally I have time again to report some about the O'Cockaigne hounds. Almost the whole month we have been on the road with hounds and caravan. But I start with April 20. On this day was the show in Goes. For this I had Brandir enrolled in the Youth class. Only three Deerhounds were reported; Prince of Jasper and Ineke, Bibelot of Marijn and Brandir. Prince became BOB and Brandir got the reserve CAC. He now has one point for his Dutch youth Championship and as the CAC moves on, also a tip for the "adult" championship.
On Tuesday, April 23, Calhoun received his 6th chemo cure. In the meantime he loses a lot of hair but where it was practically bald, it starts to grow again. He didn't respond so well to this "last" cure. He has not eaten for a long time and has therefore fallen pretty well. He was also very quickly tired and did not make much sense in walking. Since Johan de Vos wants to deal with him again, we had an appointment before 10 May. First blood pricking and checking and then we would take long pictures. The blood results were not so smash hit, some values were too high and it was decided that no chemo would be given. The long pictures looked "beautiful". HIEP!!!! That was at least something! In the meantime Calhoun is again completely the old and Tuesday 4 June we go again to Terneuzen for possibly its next chemo cure. On Thursday the 2nd of M
ay we headed for Berlin. The night was halfway by Sonja, Brandir did not know what he saw when his sister came to greet him! The next morning we drove all the way to Göhlsdorf, Simon was invited to join the international coursing judging and I was asked to approve during their CAC show. The coursing would take place on a large fenced lawn and fortunately the hounds could stretch the legs here on Friday afternoon. But of course there also had to be walked. Saturday morning, Simon, Angelika and Sonja went on the road and soon left the majority of the 9 hounds. It was immediately hit, several hares had to choose the Hazenpad and Calhoun got red wild in his nose and was right away. After a thick 15 minutes he came exhaust
ed back, which had walked enough for the rest of the day! And Simon had enough stress for the rest of the weekend, which left Calhoun (fortunately) no more loose! The weather was extraordinary, almost 30 degrees but with a little wind so it was still well toefen. Only for a big walk it was soon too hot for our elderly club; 3 of 10 years and 1 of 11.5. On Saturday so the show, Sonja showed Brandir, Bernice and Silva. There were 9 Deerhounds reported, 8 present. Brandir and Bernice got their first YOUTHCAC and Brandir became JeugdBOB. BOB and BIS became the Kilbourne Harvest Moon, the brother of the father of Brandir and Bernice, living in Finland. Sunday, the coursing for which two Finnish Deerhounds were reported. One of them was blixen the Great Scott, this male had walked with Calhoun in the Czech Republic during the EKC in 2009. It was clear to see that he was a day old! Monday morning we all left again. We first went to Tüttleben to put our caravan there before the Pentecost weekend. From here we drove home on Tuesday.
Thursday, May 9th we had the Deerhound club match. Brandir became third in his class, Coney won the veteran class and Caintha was third in this class. Friday morning 10 May so first with Calhoun to Terneuzen. Then quickly get some stuff in the car, Calhoun out and Brandier Erin and head towards Dortmund. Sonja had left with me at the same time so that we would arrive roughly right in Dortmund. Unfortunately, Sonja landed in more traffic jams than me and I was there before. After a short fifteen minutes brandir and Bernice could greet each other again and we made a lovely walk in the large nearby park. Saturday was the VDH-Europasieger-Ausstellung in the Westphalia halls. 18 Deerhounds reported, 17 present. Brandir won the Youth Class (2) and got his second YOUTHCAC, Europe became Jugendsieger and JugendBOB. Bernice was not reported. For the Sunday there were 9 Deerhounds reported and all present. Brandir was now the only one in the youth class and was given a ZG because he was too young. Why do you sign a young dog in the Youth class???? Surely you can't expect a male of less than a year to finish??!! Luckily we could get away early so we could pack everything quietly and at the end of the afternoon I was back home. 
Wednesday morning we left again towards Tüttleben where we arrived around three. Angelika and Sonja were there a little later. After having installed everything again, we first took a glass of sect. It was delicious again and the enjoyment could begin. Although I have to admit that I still have to say that I did not travel to the world exhibition in Budapest. For this show I had reported in November Calhoun, Brandir and Bernice. Unfortunately, the bone cancer at Calhoun was reported. I still tried to replace him with Coney but got zero on the petition. Bernice continued to suffer from her panostitis and I decided not to go. Because just to travel with brandir that end and feel in it and in sad because of Calhoun, I didn't feel like it either. Anyway, then make the best of it in Tüttleben. Brandir and Bernice had a lot of fun together and together with Angelika and Sonja we strip
ped Cody on Thursday of his coat. In stages we shaved and cut him and when he was finished he felt like a young god again. 
Saturday there were 6 Deerhounds reported for the show. Brandir got his 3rd and thus last YOUTHCAC and may now call himself German Youth champion (DWZRV) He was also JeugdBOB. Since he was also the only male, he was automatically the best dog and bunch, he had to make the course against Xena of Angelika, an adult bitch who later became BIS. Bernice got her 2nd Youthcac. At least she shows up very well, we are already very happy with it. Hopefully she will be even stronger in her work because that doesn't look very nice yet.
In the meantime it had often rained very violently and there were gigantic puddles everywhere, so also on the Coursingterrein. Sunday and Monday was the coursing for which Simon was asked to build, run and master the course. On Wednesday afternoon he had already started to turn it off there on Thursday morning the town would partially mow the pasture. At first, Simon had explained a nice long trail, but then it turned out that the chainsaw, normally an iron-strong rotary device, did not pull it. Everything went down again, shortened, extra cut, nothing helped. It really was on the chainsaw. Sin of the beautiful long trail! But because of the rain it was a very spectacular route, the people had to go through water but also the hounds,
which of course gave great pictures for the photo dig. Also the Middenterrein of the racecourse, where Brandir and Bernice could go out of their roof every day, showed large puddles. Since Brandir is absolutely not a water rat, Sonja drew her shoes at a given moment and stepped into the lake. Bernice followed faithfully but Brandir trusted it for no penny. After many lures and candies offering, Brandir stepped gently into the puddle and sure enough, he walked by! Next, Sonja lured him a few more times and now he has not disappeared. Meyappan, Meyappan, what a wimp! 
On Tuesday there was racecourse training. In recent years Calhoun has always done a round race course, he loved that! Also now I got him up for a round. When he heard the hare and saw he was not to keep! He jumped around and screamed of enthusiasm. When he finally took the turn, he dragged me past the Starthok and was barely able to wait until the hare came. He started out super enthusiastic and walked the whole round. No more Saluki times for Calhoun but he has enjoyed it!! W
ednesday Kookdag. Sonja, Angelika and Simon would cook for about 20 men and leave, after the shopping, the kitchen. In comparison with two years back, when there were 60 people to eat, they didn't have much work. At seven o'clock we were able to sit at the table and as usual everyone loved it!
Because of the rain we decided not to stay any longer, Thursday packed up again and drove home in one jerk. Bergen laundry, a wet awning, a dirty caravan and my ceramics that I want to finish before the EKC at the end of June, ensured that there was little time left to bore us. Tomorrow we will depart again towards Lichtenvoorde where Renvereniging Swift organises a coursing for the first time for which Simon has offered his cooperation. Hopefully the weather is a bit like that.

Weekend wide show in England.
Since Sonja and I had planned to go to the wide show of the English Deerhound Club, Sonja stayed the days between Pentecost weekend and the wide show here. Fortunately it's a lot better with Bernice and so the puppies had fun for ten. The first days they simply couldn't stop playing and we had to get them in every now and then to relax. The problem is that when they get tired, they are going to make estimation mistakes and then run against them somewhere. They had jumped over a bank a few times, but at some point this went wrong and Brandir walked on three legs with a hole in his wrist, a hefty abrasion on his knee and a huge swollen second thigh. Traumeel and cold compresses did their miracles and the next day he ran again like a kachru. Also Silva and Calhoun find it wonderful to chase behind the puppies here on the premises but we prefer not because it always ends in a jar of chopping on one of the two puppies. Anyway after a little week of playing, Brandir and Bernice were a bit quieter and that gave good prospects for the trip to England as it was of course for the first time that they had to behave neatly in a hotel and fortunately they did that too.
The trip through the Eurotunnel was successful until we came to London in England. Here they were, as always, with the road busy and this caused of course long traffic jams. A little later than planned we arrived at the hotel and we first started walking with the hounds. Most of the vast estate was confiscated by a golf course, but there were also a few sports fields where no chicken could be seen. Here we have the daily Brandir and Bernice can have a good romp because they really need it! Unfortunately we forgot to take the camera every time, otherwise we really had some very nice pictures. Pity! Brandir found all those Deerhounds very exciting, every time there was someone with a Deerhound on the line he had to look at that, just as if he had never seen a Deerhound! He always wanted to greet them all and especially the very small puppies he found brilliant. At one point we were talking to Mick Peach when Toby, the breeder of Brandir and Bernice, came to us. A joyful resounding and after a good look also recognized the puppies Toby. I noticed that in one of the cars that stood with us, a Deerhound was very interested in looking at us. Until Betina came to us and said it was CSCARF! I walked right to him and through the Autorek I was completely licked. Betina had very serious hair just verzwikt and on this I immediately offered to show Cscarf the next day. That was a good id

On Saturday we had to be out of the feathers because Brandir was in the first class. Judge was Sandy Platt of the Charbonell Deerhounds. The weather was fortunately slightly better than Friday, less wind but still very fresh. The sun seemed watery but in the course of the day she became stronger and when the wind was not there, it was delicious. Brandir was in the puppy class in which 11 were reported but 8 were present. He could not very much concentrate on showing, all the Deerhounds around the ring where he was not allowed to go was very difficult for him. He looked his eyes out! Yet the ring training, which I had followed with him for a few weeks, was very fruitful. The walk went fine and occasionally he kept standing neatly, by straining the tension and showing something too little corn
ering but I was not allowed to complain because he was third!
Cscarf stood in Open Dog, 10 reported, 7 present. He showed himself very well by me and although he was not in top condition, he walked like a spear, I could barely keep him up. He was placed second, behind the Crufts winner this year. In the end he became a reserve Best Dog, 45 males behind him!
Sunday we were again early on as I promised Betina to walk with Cscarf in the Champion Parade. At half past ten we were at the ring but there was still virtually no one present. Normally you will get a folder on Friday on arrival with all information about this weekend; What time, what and where. Very handy. But this time we had not received anything and we had to ask someone every time with the result that we received occasional contradictory information. Anyway, we were clearly too early but this had the advantage that Brandir and Bernice could get used to the bagpipe player. They found it very interesting and had to look up close.
In ten quarters, most English champions were present and I had to head with Cscarf behind the bagpipe player to the ring. I have done this a number of times now and always find this a very emotional moment. Mary Girling suggested every champion and during the honorary lap through the ring we were rewarded by the bystanders with a loud applause. Then quickly a comb by brandir because it was reported for the Maiden Dog or Bitch Class. He was somewhat more relaxed, what got accustomed to all the Deerhounds to the ring and showed a lot better. He became third of the five and got his second beautiful yellow rosette. A wonderful toy! After having enjoyed the beautiful weather, all the Deerhounds and our friends and acquaintances have said goodbye, we headed back to the Netherlands. Of course we had a back-up in Belgium and in the evening after Eights got tired but met at home. It was a very nice weekend and the puppies have learned a lot again!

Since today, the new "Scottish Deerhoun Primer" by Barbara Heidenreich, Fernhill Deerhounds from Canada, is downloadable. Barbara wrote her first primer in 1970 to make her puppy buyers Deerhoundland. In the meantime it has been adapted and re-released several times and now it has been adapted to the digital age so that everyone can download it, print it and read it above all.
I really recommend it to everyone. There are an awful lot of important Deerhound-specific issues mentioned, all written by people who have a real sense of Deerhounds. For example, there is a recipe for the Magic Meetballs, a delicacy for Deerhounds who really do not want to eat or quickly use after e.g. An operation. Also the values of the heart are in it, so that if you have your Deerhound examined by your veterinarian you can show these values so that no misunderstandings arise about the dimensions of the heart as they are rather different from a normal canine heart.
